Need Help To Neuter Your Cat?

Cats Protection generally recommends cats are neutered at around 4 months of age or younger. Neutered cats live longer, healthier lives and it is the most humane way to stop unwanted pregnancies. Neutering also prevents some cancers, reduces straying, fighting and spraying.

Cats Protection may be able to assist you with the cost of neutering your cat.

Our Branch is running a neutering campaign from May to August whereby members of the public can get their cats neutered for half price. This applies to all cats, not just cats which have been homed via Cats Protection. To apply for the offer contact us on 01569 739396 (option 5) and we can then arrange for a voucher to be sent to your vet.

Every year Cats Protection has to find homes for 75,000 unwanted cats and kittens.
From the age of 6 months a healthy female cat can have up to 3 litters a year with 5 or 6 kittens per litter. That adds up to 18 good homes to find a year because of just 1 un-neutered cat. That 1 cat could be responsible for as many as 20,000 descendents in just 5 years, so owners who do not neuter their cats may unwittingly contribute to cats being abandoned in the future.
• A female cat can be responsible for 20,000 descendants in just 5 years.
• A neutered cat is less likely to catch feline leukaemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV).
• A neutered male cat is less likely to spray and less likely to wander than one that is un-castrated.
